DESCRIPTION:
Intermediate Troupe classes cover intermediate level choreography, stage/performance technique, and include dances with props such as veils, finger cymbals, sword, etc.

PREREQUISITES
This troupe is intended for students who have completed about 1-2 years of beginner level classes with Linda including beginner choreography classes/troupe. Students with similar training from other teachers are welcome but may need to audition. If you are unsure of which class/troupe to join, feel free to contact Linda to find the right classes for you.

PERFORMANCES
As a troupe, dancers are expected to do at least 3 performances per year. There will be many more opportunities for students to perform as a group. Students may choose to perform in each one or in only the 2 with which they feel most comfortable.

Performances will include hafla/belly dance party and related events. Students will not be performing for the general public. There is no audition required to join the group.

Intermediate Troupe members are encouraged to perform solo dances in addition to their group performances.

COSTUMES
Students are responsible for the cost of their costumes. Linda will arrange, whenever possible, for wholesale prices on required costumes. Students are not required to show their stomach or any other body part with which they they feel uncomfortable showing. Linda will present costume options for the troupe and students will vote on the final decision. New costumes will be purchased at least once per year, more often if the troupe agrees to do so.

OTHER INFO
Some classes or sessions of classes will be open to general students as well as troupe members depending on the topics. These times will be noted in the schedule below.

Students are expected to practice routines for at least 30 minutes outside of class time per week.

Linda Reserves the right to require additional technique classes should a student fall behind in this. Also, if a student is not keeping up with the rest of the class, Linda may ask the student to sit out on a performance or change to the beginner troupe.

PRICING:

This level is offered in class packages only. students pay $10 per class at the beginning of the month. If the month has 4 classes the fee is $40; 5 classes is $50.

Missed Classes:

If you miss a class during a choreography, you may use the dollar equivilant towards a private lesson or you may drop in on a level 1 class of your choice.

Missed class credits must be used within 2 months of the missed class.

GETTING STARTED:

Students may start only at the beginning of the choreography unless other arrangements are made in advance with Linda or noted in the schedule.

THURSDAYS: 7:45-8:45 pm at Green Hills School of Dance in Nashville-

Intermediate 1 & 2: “The Cabaret Performance” – A great series for all Beginner-2, intermediate, and even advanced students, this series explores the format and dances that make-up a traditional show as used primarily by Turkish and American dancers in the 70’s and 80’s. Both combinations and guided improvisation will be used: November 13th – December 18th (no class on Thanksgiving). 5 weeks total: $60 or Drop in for $15.

***Because of a class cancellation due to weather, this series will be extended by 1 week to January 8th

Intermediate Troupe: “Zeina”- classical Egyptian choreography: 8 classes- January 15, through March 12. (No class on February 12th)
