DESCRIPTION:
This class is designed for students who want to be a professional belly dancer (or just dance like one).
It is designed to be challenging and to help dancers reach their full potential. Practice between classes is a must. Combinations will be reviewed but not re-taught. These combos are derived from dances performed by Atlantis World Dance Company but will not be taught as a full choreography. If a student misses a class, private lessons are available but not required. There will be no required public performances. Students in this level that would like to perform as a small group may schedule a semi-private lesson with Linda (at a discounted rate) to learn a choreography/perfect their own choreography.
To encourage you in using the skills you learned in class, students are encouraged to present their own choreographies/improvisation for group feedback at the end of classes. You must schedule this with Linda at least the day before. There will only be one such performance per class. This is not required and there is no deadline for doing such a performance.
Advanced level classes will help you explore Belly Dance in more complexity. Though there is no audition required to be in the class, there may be times when a student is asked to either add a lower level technique class or wait until their technique is at an appropriate level for the class. If you have studied primarily Tribal style belly dance with little or no experience in Oriental styles, it is suggested that you begin in the intermediate technique class for at least a few weeks before starting the advanced class.

PREREQUISITES
Students in Intermediate Technique group classes: If you are currently enrolled in an Intermediate technique class, you should complete at least 1 year of these classes before moving into Advanced technique. If you are interested in performing, you should consider going from beginner technique to beginner troupe first (see below).
Students taking private classes: Because students in private classes may move faster that those taking group classes, After about 1 year, consult your teacher or stop by for a $10 drop in to see if you’re ready for this class.
Students in the Intermediate Troupe: After being in the troupe for at least 6 months (and assuming you’ve been in Intermediate technique for at least 6 months to a year), you may want to add the Advanced technique class to your schedule. This will help guide you into more advanced dancing without loosing the opportunity to do group performances.
Advanced/Professional students: You will find this to be perfect for continuing to hone your craft. Combinations will be challenging but will give you a chance to learn no ways of combining movements while maintaining your stage presence.
